Downtown pet-shop owner Randy Klein already offers her staffers three sick days per year, but says it “would be a real hardship” if city officials required her to dish out five.

“People get sick; they should not be penalized,” said Klein, 55, who’s operated Whiskers Holistic Pet Care the past 24 years. “But two more days on top of [the three sick days I already provide] is a lot.

“I would probably have to cut some hours,” added Klein, who has 13 employees.
