The former Pan Am terminal at JFK Airport, with its signature saucer-shaped roof, is soon to go the way of its namesake airline, as the Port Authority is poised today to approve a $1.5 billion plan to replace it.

Known as “Worldport,” the terminal, built in 1960, would be demolished under a plan to modernize and consolidate operations for Delta Air Lines, which took it over when Pan Am went out of business.
