Officials say a New York City highway worker was killed in an accident that involved a Department of Transportation vehicle.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan announced the loss of Errol Wilson on Tuesday.

The 59-year-old father of two died late Monday following the accident on the Cross Island Parkway near Northern Boulevard in Queens.

Sadik-Khan said in a statement: “The news that we’ve lost Errol breaks our hearts.“

The NYPD is investigating the cause of the accident.
