Traffic is moving again nearly five hours after a tractor-trailer hauling trash overturned and snarled Lincoln Tunnel traffic heading out of New York.

The cleanup was hampered by medical debris.

Port Authority spokesman Ron Marsico says the truck flipped on its side on the Helix in Weehawken at 5:22 a.m. Friday. The cause is under investigation.

The outbound tunnel was closed to commuter traffic and only the north tube was open for buses heading away from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. New Jersey Transit trains honored bus passes to and from New York Penn Station.

Traffic leaving the city was being diverted onto local streets, the Holland Tunnel and George Washington Bridge.

Marsico says the driver was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
