The Brooklyn man accused of beating and keeping his ex-girlfriend captive for a month has been slapped with an 18-count indictment that could land him in prison for life, the Brooklyn district attorney announced today..

Anthony Matthews, 31, allegedly kidnapped his 26-year-old girlfriend from her father’s upstate home and imprisoned her inside his cousin’s Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment from June 29 until July 30, the DA’s office said.

Matthews allegedly bound the woman with extension cords, beat her with wooden planks, and burned her legs and genitals with an iron and a heated screwdriver.

The woman – who Matthews dropped off on the doorstop of her mother’s home on July 30 – remains hospitalized.

Matthews has been charged with kidnapping, attempted murder, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and criminal possession of a weapon.
