Mystery swabbed!

Wandering weapons-hoarding suspect James Edward O’Donnell — if indeed that is his name — submitted to court-ordered mouth-swabbing for DNA today so that Manhattan prosecutors can figure out who the heck he is.

It’s been a year since O’Donnell, 39, was stopped as he poked through trash on St. Marks Place in the East Village, with a giant dagger allegedly poking out of his backpack.

A receipt in the backpack led cops to a South Street storage locker where they recovered a loaded .22-caliber pistol, a loaded 9mm pistol, three silencers, 10 more daggers, a stun gun, a laser scope and 305 additional rounds of ammo.

Cops also found plane tickets for Seattle, San Francisco, Boston and Iceland among his things.

The alleged international ammo-hoarder of mystery has been held in lieu of a whopping $4 million bail after his prints came back absolutely blank — connected to no driver’s license, no Social Security number, nothing.

Another lingering mystery: how O’Donnell got his alleged weaponry assortment to New York.

“He had his two carry-on bags full of guns and got on the plane, and nobody stopped him,” his defense lawyer, Howard Simmons, told The Post yesterday, after a handcuffed O’Donnell made a brief appearance in Manhattan Supreme Court.

“What does that say for security on a plane? He just flew here and landed and nobody said a thing,” the lawyer claimed. Prosecutors declined to comment on how O’Donnell allegedly got his weapons here.

Simmons said it would take two months for DNA results to possibly clear up his client’s identity.

A Florida woman who came forward briefly in December, saying she is O’Donnell’s mother, has not resurfaced since, Simmons said. A call placed to the woman’s home in Cape Canaveral today was not immediately returned.
