An accused meth dealer who became a poster boy for dodging jail because of the coronavirus epidemic has been locked up — after cutting off his ankle monitor within a day of catching the break, The Post has learned.

Rasedur Raihan lucked out on March 12 when a federal judge found it was a “relatively easy call” not to send him to Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center for a house arrest violation he committed while awaiting trial on drug charges.

Magistrate Judge James Orenstein denied a prosecutor’s request to jail Raihan, saying that packing a nonviolent drug offender into MDC would present a “risk to the community.”

In the weeks since, Orenstein’s ruling became widely cited in defense attorneys’ requests to let their clients await trial in home confinement while the COVID-19 outbreak rages on.

But a law enforcement source told The Post that, just hours after Raihan left Brooklyn federal court, he cut off his ankle monitor.

The next day, he was back in court but before a new judge — Magistrate Judge Lois Bloom, who ordered Raihan to be detained.

The US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn declined to comment on the case. Raihan’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
