An Aer Lingus flight out of JFK was forced to turn around and made an emergency landing Monday night due to hydraulic failure soon after takeoff.

The Shannon, Ireland-bound Boeing 757 touched down at a high rate of speed 15 minutes after it took off at about 7:14 p.m.

“The landing was quite bumpy but not out of control,” said passenger Patrick Wolf, 30, of East Harlem. “We could see a dozen or 20 fire trucks on the runway . . . As we landed, they started dousing the plane.

“The pilot kept everyone calm, but it was a little tense there for a while.”

The pilot of Flight 110 had to slam the brakes so hard, they overheated, sparking a fire in the left rear wheels.
