WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A real estate group says prices for homes in New York City’s northern suburbs are still falling, but at a slower rate.

The Westchester-Putnam Multiple Listing Service says the median price for a single-family home in Westchester County was $630,000 during the third quarter. That’s down 11 percent from a year ago. In Putnam County, the figure was $330,000, down 12 percent.

The group said, however, that the rate of decline is lower than in the second quarter. And it found a slight suggestion that prices are close to bottoming out.

It said unemployment and conservative lending practices were slowing the market despite low interest rates and an improving stock market.
