State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman plans to drag feuding cable kings Time Warner and MSG Networks back to the negotiating table next week in a bid to end a brawl that has left millions of sports fans in the dark, sources said.
“We have had constructive discussions with Time Warner Cable and MSG Networks as part of an ongoing effort to facilitate progress in their talks,” a Schneiderman spokesman said last night.
“We are hopeful that the two parties will come to an agreement in short order so that games are available to subscribing New Yorkers as soon as possible.”
Officials at both MSG and TW have admitted that neither side has even been negotiating to end the week-old blackout, which has robbed fans of Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, Devils and Sabres telecasts.
Time Warner claims MSG is demanding a 53 percent increase in the fees it charges the cable company to carry its telecasts.
MSG says it simply wants to be paid fairly for its programming.
