AIDS-scam doc guilty
A Washington Heights doctor was convicted yesterday of a sick fraud — conspiring with 150 healthy “patients” who pretended they had AIDS so he could bill Medicaid for $700,000 in “treatments” he never provided.
A Manhattan jury found Suresh Hemrajani, 58, guilty of grand larceny and falsifying business records.
The patients would fill Hemrajani’s prescriptions for expensive HIV medications and get paid for turning them over to middlemen, who would sell them illegally.
