Alex Ray Joel has given her most detailed comments about her suicide scare last month, thanking fans for their support and denying reports that nasty comments from supermodel mom Christie Brinkley played a role.

“The press was particularly harsh on my mother, which is unthinkable to me, because she is the kindest woman I’ve ever known,” Joel, 24, wrote on her Facebook page on New Year’s Eve.

Billy Joel’s daughter hinted at the true cause, a breakup with bandmate Jimmy Riot, by saying she will talk more about “heartbreak-related depression.”
