Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez teased Brooklyn in response to a tweet predicting a higher profile for the Bronx this year.
“YUP. BX is seizing the throne, now that Brooklyn has been taken over by bespoke quiche spots or whatever you weird L train people did down there,” she tweeted, punctuating the line with a grinning emoji.
The quip came in response to a tweet from Anil Dash, CEO of website Glitch, that asserted: “One thing is already clear: between @iamcardib, @desusnice, @THEKIDMERO & @AOC, 2019 is gonna be the Bronx’s year. Calling it right now.”
He was referencing rapper Cardi B and pop culture podcasters Desus Nice and the Kid Mero.
Since her upset win to represent the Bronx and Queens, Ocasio-Cortez has taken social media by storm.
On Saturday, none other than Cher applauded her dancing after critics unsuccessfully tried to mock an old college video of Ocasio-Cortez strutting her stuff. That prompted the congresswoman to issue a new, brief vid rocking out in front of her office on Capitol Hill.
“SOMETIMES… JUST [gotta] DANCE!!” Cher tweeted.
“Good Thing You Can [dance], Sponsor a Bill, Put on [lipstick], & Kick Ass At The Same Time.”
