All aboard Amtrak — at Penn Station again.

All area Amtrak trains, some of which had been running out of Grand Central Terminal this past summer because of construction, will return to Penn Station on Tuesday, officials said.

Amtrak finished the summer infrastructure work it has been toiling on since June just in time to have the trains back to their normal platforms for the fall. The project was completed on schedule, officials said.

Amtrak had moved its Empire Service, Ethan Allen Express, Adirondack and Maple Leaf trains all to Grand Central for the summer to make room for the work.

This is the second summer in a row that Amtrak has moved trains schedules around in order to do critical infrastructure repairs at Penn. Last summer brought massive schedule changes and cancellations so that Amtrak could fix rails and switches that were causing chronic derailments.

Long Island Rail Road will also adjust its schedule back to what it was in the spring, restoring about a dozen rush-hour trains that had been canceled or diverted because of the work.
