All New York City-run COVID-19 vaccination sites are now open to all New Yorkers for walk-in appointments, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday after The Post ran a front page calling for the change.
As of Friday, any New Yorker 16 and older can walk into any city-run immunization site in the Big Apple and get jabbed, de Blasio said during a City Hall press briefing.
“Convenience matters to New Yorkers,” de Blasio said. “We want to make it simpler for folks.”

“A lot of people said it was the reason they came and got vaccinated,” de Blasio said.
Hizzoner added, “We’re quite confident we can accommodate a much higher volume of walk-ins, so we’re going to make that universal at all the city-run sites.”

Additionally, the mayor announced that all of the city-run vaccine sites are now open to all New Yorkers “regardless of any geographic restrictions that existed previously.”
“We want to make it simple,” de Blasio said. “You can go to any city-run site — Health & Hospitals, Department of Health — any site you can go there and get a shot, doesn’t matter where you live.”
De Blasio also said his administration is “encouraging” vaccine sites at New York community health centers, including the federally supported ones, “to allow walk-ins” and is “urging” private health care providers to reach out to patients to “encourage folks to get vaccinated.”

“The obvious fix: Let anyone walk into a clinic without an appointment and get jabbed,” a Post editorial read.
Meanwhile, New York City has now administered more than 6 million vaccine doses, de Blasio announced, calling it an “important milestone.”
“We’re just gonna keep moving forward no matter what,” de Blasio said.
