All uniformed NYPD cops were ordered Monday to only work in pairs — and not even take breaks on their own — in the wake of the execution-style slayings of two cops as they sat in a police cruiser in Brooklyn, The Post has learned.
A directive authorized by Chief of Department James O’Neill said: “There are to be no solo assignments citywide, including, but not limited to, assignments to Embassy or consulate posts, skywatch posts, Terra Hawk posts and command posts.”
“All uniform members of service shall arrive and remain on post together,” the message says.
“Meal and personal breaks will also be taken in pairs. If the assigned post is considered integral to your command operations and you feel it should not be left unmanned during meal breaks, have that post backfilled with another two officer post.”
The memo also urges cops to “maintain a heightened level of awareness” and “approach all situations tactically.”
