An 80-foot-tall Norway spruce from New Jersey that survived Sandy’s ferocious winds takes its place in Rockefeller Plaza today as a symbol of Christmas — and resiliency.

Joseph Balku, 76, at home in Flanders yesterday as the spruce was cut, said he lost two trees and was without electricity for two weeks.

But the chosen tree — secured with metal bracing by a Rockefeller Plaza team — kept standing.

Balku said he’s glad so many people “will enjoy it.”
