An alleged carjacker was shot and killed by an off-duty police lieutenant today in Brooklyn after the man shot at the officer, sources told The Post.

The officer saw Christopher Kissane, 22, wearing a mask, crash a stolen Chrysler minivan into a pole at Jamaica Avenue and Cyprus Hills Street in Cypress Hills just after 4 a.m., police said.

The officer followed Kissane after seeing him flee the crash carrying a gun.

Kissane, of Queens, fired at the cop and the officer returned fire, striking him.

Kissane, suspected in an earlier shooting and attempted carjacking in Queens, was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital, sources said.

Police said Kissane was suspected in an armed robbery in Queens at 2:45 a.m. and ten minute laters, he tried stealing a car from a woman and shot at her as she drove away.

Police say Kissane’s unregistered .22 caliber revolver was found at the scene. Police also recovered a bag with an additional 15 rounds from the scene.

The officer was not injured.
