An elderly woman was killed this morning when an FDNY ambulance transporting a patient to a hospital hit her as she crossed a street in Brooklyn, officials said.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, was crossing Bay Parkway near the west -bound the ramp to the Belt Parkway, when an ambulance, making a right turn off Bay Parkway and onto the west-bound ramp for the Belt Parkway struck her.
She was rushed to Lutheran Hospital, where she died.
It was not clear if the same ambulance transported the victim, or if the driver was using the vehicle’s lights and siren at the time of the accident.
The ambulance was already carrying a woman suffering from abdominal pains. That patient was not injured.
No criminal charges were filed.
