An offer he can refuse
Maybe he didn’t see the movie.
A witness began testifying in a Bronx court yesterday against his childhood pal, an accused murderer who was caught on tape allegedly trying to intimidate him with a scare tactic pulled straight from “The Godfather: Part II.”
Supporters of Daniel Carbuccia stared down key turncoat witness Eduardo Urritia, even after prosecutors alleged that they recorded Carbuccia — the suspected ringleader of a fatal brothel heist — making arrangements to recreate a movie scene in which mob boss Michael Corleone intimidates a witness.
After two days of stalling, a nervous-looking Urritia finally took the stand and identified the defendants, described a gun used in the robbery, and provided details of the plan to stick up a Bronx brothel, where a 25-year-old doorman was killed.
“We were supposed to stick up a whorehouse,” the witness said. “It was an illegal business, illegal immigrants, cash money. They wouldn’t report the crime.”
