ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo and legislative leaders announced a “conceptual agreement” Tuesday to hike the state’s minimum wage as part of a larger deal on the new $154 billion state budget.
“The entire state gets $15 [an hour], but we had different phase-ins to get there,” Cuomo told reporters.
“In New York City, we’re talking two years, or three years or four years. That’s just a detail, but it’s an important detail.”
Sources said one plan is for New York City to impose the $15 minimum wage, up from the current $9, by 2018, while the suburbs and upstate would have to wait extra years reach the mark.
