Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo is set to receive a labor union endorsement for the New York City mayoral race — as speculation that he’s going to imminently announce his comeback bid hits fever pitch.
The ex-governor, who hasn’t even formally thrown his hat in the mayoral ring yet, will be backed by the New York City District Council of Carpenters, several sources told The Post.

Sources also said that Cuomo is expected to tap Carpenters Political Director Kevin Elkins for a high level role in the campaign, including possibly as campaign manager.
“There is no campaign. I have not been offered any role. And it would be a mistake to say that,” Elkins told The Post.
Without having entered the race, the former governor has already lined up a string of endorsements in what appears to be a choreographed campaign rollout ahead of the June 24 Democratic primary.
Cuomo, who resigned from office back in 2021 amid a slew of sexual misconduct allegations that he has long denied, could potentially announce his run by this weekend, sources say.
US Rep. Ritchie Torres, former state Comptroller H. Carl McCall, the Staten Island Democratic Party and the Village Reform Democratic Club in Greenwich Village are among those to back him already.
He is said to be pushing other high-profile Democrats – including Queens borough president, Donovan Richards, and the Manhattan party chairman, Keith L.T. Wright – to support him, too.
In addition to the endorsements, wealthy donors have also already committed to hosting fundraisers for him as soon as next Tuesday, the New York Times reported.
Among them is Charles Myers, the chairman of Signum Global Advisors, who is slated to host donors at his Upper East Side apartment on March 4.
Cuomo, on his part, is already widely considered a frontrunner in the Big Apple’s mayoral race with multiple polls showing him leading the crowded pack.
A fresh survey of likely Democratic voters conducted for Tusk Strategies has him at 38% compared to Mayor Adams, who notched just 10% of support.
“I predict the comeback story of the 2025 election will be the resurrection of Andrew Cuomo,” Torres told The Post. “America loves a comeback, New York loves a comeback.”
Cuomo hasn’t commented on his likely bid or the latest endorsements.
