Days after dropping his presidential bid, Andew Yang — who’s been rumored as a potential New York City mayoral candidate — said he thinks the Big Apple should adopt a universal basic income.

The 45-year-old entrepreneur, without ruling out a possible 2021 run for mayor, told the New York Times that the city “should do a large-scale universal basic income.”

“To me, that seems obvious,” he said.

Yang, a native of Schenectady, NY, staked much of his presidential campaign on promoting a universal basic income on the national level.

Known as the “freedom dividend,” Yang’s proposal would have provided every American adult older than 18 with $1,000 a month.

When questioned about getting any “feelers” for a mayoral run, Yang, without elaborating, told The Times, “people have been reaching out with various questions about the future.”

“We’re looking at different ways forward,” he said.
