Andy adamant on spend hikes
It’s full speed ahead on state education and health-care spending hikes, Gov. Cuomo said yesterday.
Despite warnings that Wall Street woes could leave the state short of revenue, Cuomo said yesterday he plans to keep his commitment to increase spending by 4 percent next year on the twin Democratic sacred cows.
The current state budget included two-year appropriations for education and health care that cut spending this year but increases it by 4 percent in 2012-13.
Cuomo’s comments yesterday followed a reiteration of his opposition to raising revenue by extending high state income-tax rates on million-dollar earners beyond their scheduled expiration at the end of this year.
