ALBANY — Talk about sacrificing for public service — $103,000!

That’s the annual income former New York Police Department Deputy Chief Joseph D’Amico will lose to become Gov.-elect Andrew Cuomo’s new head of the scandal-scarred State Police, aides to Cuomo said yesterday.

Not only will D’Amico take an $18,000 pay cut from his current post as chief investigator in Cuomo’s Attorney General’s Office, he’ll forgo an $85,000-a-

year NYPD pension if, as expected, the state Senate confirms him as the new superintendent of State Police, a post that pays $136,000 annually.

D’Amico, 50, has been the chief investigator in Cuomo’s office since March 2007, leading a force of 300 criminal and civil investigators throughout the state.

During that time, D’Amico, like many retired cops working for state agencies, received a “211 waiver” from the Civil Service Department, allowing him to collect his city police pension, as well as his full state salary.
