Longtime CBS commentator Andy Rooney suffered complications while undergoing surgery last week and remains hospitalized in serious condition, CBS News announced Tuesday.
The network said his condition was stable after he underwent “minor surgery.”
Earlier this month, Rooney, 92, made his last appearance on “60 Minutes” after a 43-year run on the CBS News magazine.
Rooney began his CBS career in 1949 as a writer for the variety show “Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts.” He later contributed to a slew of shows including “News of America,” “Calendar” and “The Morning Show with Will Rogers, Jr.”
He joined “60 Minutes” when it was created by venerable TV producer Don Hewitt in 1968.
