British TV dropped a bombshell about sexy Russian spy Anna Chapman — but it quickly fizzled.

The BBC2 aired a documentary Monday night saying Chapman and her nine fellow sleeper agents were arrested in June 2010 because FBI officials feared she was about to seduce a member of President Obama’s Cabinet.

But the FBI official they interviewed, counterintelligence director Frank Figliuzzi, never mentioned Chapman, the Manhattan-based redhead, during the “Modern Spies” broadcast.

The FBI said yesterday Figliuzzi was talking about another female member of Chapman’s cell — and he wasn’t talking about sex.

What he said on the air was: “We were becoming very concerned they were getting close enough to a sitting US Cabinet member that we could no longer allow this to continue.”

That echoed comments Figliuzzi had made in the past.

The FBI told ABC News that Figliuzzi was referring to Cynthia Murphy, who was described in court papers as trying to cultivate a friendship with Alan Patricof, an associate of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
