An suspected clothing thief escaped from police custody and fled into a nearby subway tunnel after allegedly stealing threads from a Gap store in Manhattan, sources said.

Magsayo Cruz was handcuffed and lying in the back of an NYPD police cruiser on Franklin Street in TriBeCa when he kicked through the back door and bolted at around 7:30 p.m., according to law enforcement sources.

Authorities searching for the runaway handed out a photo of the suspect and the MTA closed down the 1 train along with the 2,3 lines below 14th Street.

He was eventually recaptured, one source told The Post.

The incident was the latest in a series of getaway attempts by suspects who were apprehended by police.

In August, a woman who said she was pregnant fled in handcuffs from a hospital and hit a number of bars downtown.
