An anti-Israel protester was caught on camera in the Big Apple declaring that slain Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin “deserved” to be murdered by Hamas terrorists.
The unidentified protester was filmed making the remark during an anti-Israel demonstration in Manhattan on Monday as he drove a car adorned with several Palestinian flags.
“He deserved it,” the man could be heard saying in a clip shared online by Jewish activist Lizzy Savetsky, apparently in reference to Goldberg-Polin.
“Israel killed him,” he added.
An anti-Israel protester in NYC was caught on camera saying that Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin “deserved” to be murdered by Hamas, according to a video posted online. Instagram / @lizzysavetskySavetsky told The Post she was grabbing lunch with her husband and three children when they found themselves in front of the protesters, leaving them shaken and in tears.
“We had just watched the livestream of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and that same day we’re seeing people taking to the streets to celebrate the terrorist regime responsible for his death,” Savestky said.
“It’s already scary enough living as a Jewish person in New York City,” she added.
Savetsky elaborated on the incident in a post on X, saying she was shocked by such blatant antisemitism taking place in broad daylight in the middle of Manhattan.
“Yeah, we’re LIVID by this complete lack of humanity—ESPECIALLY TODAY—and we couldn’t hide it,” she wrote on X. “Our kids are devastated to see this happening in their own backyard.
“It’s HORRIFIC. What has become of this city,” she added. “This is truly an alternate universe. Do we even have a future here?”
Liora Rez, the founder of StopAntisemitism, condemned the man in the video for appearing to celebrate Hamas’ cruel murder tactics.
“To even suggest that an innocent young American who was celebrating at a peace festival ‘deserved’ to be violently kidnapped, have his arm blown off, held hostage in underground tunnels for months, and then brutally murdered with a gunshot to the back of his head is so horrific as to be a shock to the conscience,” Rez told The Post.
“Hamas has confirmed and even boasted about these executions,” she added. “Shame on this hateful and bigoted man and all those who took to the streets of New York to glorify the terrorists.”
Rez called on Mayor Eric Adams to crack down on such protests.

“I am devastated and outraged,” President Biden said in a statement confirming the 23-year-old’s death.
“Hersh was among the innocents brutally attacked while attending a music festival for peace in Israel on October 7. He lost his arm helping friends and strangers during Hamas’ savage massacre.”
“Make no mistake, Hamas leaders will pay for these crimes,” Biden added.

Meanwhile, the protester’s comment came as thousands of unruly demonstrators — including some proudly waving Hamas flags — stormed through the city on Labor Day while lighting flares and setting off smoke bombs.
Some chaotic demonstrators had gathered at Union Square in the early afternoon before beginning their raucous march to Washington Square Park.
At one point, video footage showed NYPD officials trying to halt the march, only to be shoved aside by a few of the demonstrators.
