GLEN COVE, N.Y. — An early morning apartment fire on Long Island has sent 11 people to the hospital, including two firefighters. Nassau County police say none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
The fire broke out in an apartment in Glen Cove at about 12:25 a.m. Friday. It damaged six apartments and four businesses.
Police say 10 people were treated for smoke inhalation, including one firefighter. Another firefighter was treated for a minor burn.
At least five volunteer fire departments helped douse the flames.
The American Red Cross was at the scene; a spokesman did not immediately respond to a call about how many people may have been left homeless by the fire.
Police said it was not considered suspicious.
