Two Queens fires left hundreds of people homeless yesterday as firefighters battled to get the blazes under control.

“Due to the heat, firefighters can only operate for so long,” said Deputy Fire Chief John Sudnik. “It’s like running a marathon in this heat.”

About 200 residents were displaced after a five-alarm inferno that injured 23 firefighters ripped through a Middle Village building.

Later, a blaze broke out in Bayside. Four apartments were destroyed and seven civilians and 15 firefighters were hurt.
