Police were investigating a gunpoint robbery that took place inside the posh Plaza Hotel on Monday morning, law enforcement sources said.
Clad in a black peacoat, the bandit brandished his semiautomatic gun at a Travelex Currency Services shop inside the luxury hotel and demanded money from a worker at 11:14 a.m., according to sources.
The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, fled with 3,000 euros, sources said. He changed out of his dark coat into a light overcoat as he made his way up the escalator.
No one was injured during the incident.
