An arsonist set hundreds of dollars of Macy’s merchandise on fire inside the Staten Island store’s fitting room, police said Sunday.

The unidentified firebug collected about $200 worth of goods from the Macy’s in the Staten Island Mall around 2:15 p.m. Saturday and brought the merch into the changing room. He added newspapers before setting the pile alight and walking out, police and law enforcement sources said.

Another customer inside the fitting area spotted the small blaze and extinguished it before any fire alarms went off, the sources added.

No one was hurt, but the damage caused approximately $500 worth of damage to the clothing and the dressing room wall, according to police.

Cops are still looking for the arsonist.
