A Chelsea gallery owner says his estranged wife is trying to skirt their prenuptial agreement that was written in German by claiming that she doesn’t understand the language — even though she was raised in a German-speaking household.
Swiss-born Nathalie Karg told the couple’s Manhattan divorce judge that the document “was in German, a language I do not speak or understand well.”
But her husband, Anton Kern, submitted evidence to the court to disprove his spouse’s alleged fibbing, including an e-mail she wrote in German to an acquaintance in 2012.
Her husband, head of the Anton Kern Gallery, is the son of a famous German painter and is worth over $360 million. Karg filed for divorce in 2012. She is demanding $15 million.
Laurie J. McPherson, Karg’s attorney, called the complaint “purely malicious and wholly frivolous.”
