An elderly East Village artist known for her giant abstract bronze sculptures died in a fiery apartment blaze sparked by smoking in bed, a police source said yesterday.

Mary Lincoln Bonnell, 84, had showcased her prodigious work in SoHo galleries.

The fire broke out in her fifth-floor apartment on Fourth Avenue near East 12th Street at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
