Snowfall has been blanketing the Big Apple with an expected 1 to 2 feet, authorities said. Forecasters originally expected 2 to 3 feet but have since downgraded levels to the 10-to-20-inch range.

As of Tuesday morning, approximately 4 to 6 inches had fallen on New York City, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Nonetheless, the governor discouraged nonessential travel: “While the roads are open … if you don’t have to travel today, you really don’t want to be traveling today.”

The city expects to be back to a full weekday schedule Wednesday.
