Republicans are gaining at least one seat in the Democratic-controlled Assembly after special elections to fill vacancies in Queens, Long Island and Westchester.

Queens Democrat David Weprin easily won the 24th Assembly District over GOPer Bob Friedrich.

But Republicans Michael Montesano in Nassau and Robert Castelli in Westchester were winners.

Republican Dean Murray held a slim lead in a Suffolk County race late last night.
