At least eight people, including two NYPD cops, were injured by an out-of-control driver in Midtown Manhattan early Monday morning, blocks away from Times Square’s New Year’s Eve festivities.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m., spanning multiple city streets on West 33rd and 34th streets, between Sixth and Ninth Avenues, authorities and sources said.

The area was clogged with revelers and cops who had been among the estimated million people at the New Year’s Eve ball drop in Times Square several blocks north just over an hour earlier, according to a witness.

“I was scared. Everybody was scared,” said cab driver Sheikh Milon, who said his vehicle was struck during the “chaotic” rampage. “[The suspect] could have killed me and other people on the street. He could have killed the police officers. He didn’t care about anyone so he could have hit us and killed us.”

The mayhem began when bystanders noticed that the 44-year-old driver was involved in a heated dispute that turned physical with his 34-year-old girlfriend inside his moving black Mercedes-Benz, with New Jersey plates, sources said.

The civilians flagged down cops on a foot post, who attempted to intervene, according to authorities and police sources.

But instead of stopping, the motorist took off, striking several marked police cars, two police officers and four pedestrians, police said.

The injured cops were hospitalized in stable condition with minor injuries, authorities said.

Three women, 29, 31 and 39, were struck and taken to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries, cops and sources said.

The fleeing driver also rammed into a halal cart – causing another passerby, also a 39-year-old woman, to become pinned underneath it, cops and sources said.

She too was taken to Bellevue, miraculously with only minor injuries, officials said.

Milon, 54, said the fracas began when the suspect was driving fast on the sidewalk and refused orders from police to hit the breaks.

The area was clogged with cops and revelers who were leaving Times Square, according to the witness.

“He backed up and hit me on the right side. He hit the back door. I had two passengers – two young men. They opened the door and ran. I don’t know if they got hurt,” said Milon.

“After the car hit my car the driver tried to go up 34th Street but he could not because the traffic was bad — so many cars. He tried to make a U-turn. He tried to go away but he could not.”

The cabbie claimed the suspect was trying to hit police, and estimated 50 to 100 officers were in the vicinity.

“He tried to hit the cops. He did not care,” Milon stated. “An Uber car was in front of me. He hit the Uber and then he hit me again for the third time.

“He didn’t want to get out of the car. They tried to get him out several times but he wouldn’t come out,” he continued.

“The cops were shouting, ‘Stop the car! Stop the car! Get out of the car!’ It wasn’t easy. I believe he just wanted to hit them.

“After he hit the Uber and me, he could not go anywhere, he could not move. Then the cops pulled him out.”

The driver was alone in his vehicle when he was apprehended, cops said.

Three vehicles — two black sedans and a taxi cab — were among the wrecked vehicles found at the scene.

Milon, who has worked as a cabbie for 20 years, said he also went to the hospital and was treated for injuries to his right knee, right shoulder and neck.

“Right now my knee is hurting. I think I’m going to have a problem with my knee. I cannot walk as before,” the medallion owner said, adding that he had just bought a new cab seven months ago.

“I am still shaken up. I am lucky, I am lucky, you know, it could have been worse…but I pray to God. I am grateful it wasn’t.”

“This is the first day of the year. I don’t know if this year is gonna be good but I’m hopeful.”

Boris Torres, the owner of Chirp Peruvian Kitchen on Seventh and 34th, had his pandemic-era sidewalk seating extension crashed into by the driver, who police told him was drunk.

“Thankfully, it was just materialistic – nobody got hurt,” Torres said. “I’m happy that it didn’t happen during regular hours, there were no customers, nobody was here, and to me that was the most important thing.”

Torres said police told him he could open his business after cleaning up the debris.

“Obviously, I feel very upset, sad, angry. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done now to rebuild this. This is not cheap. It took a lot of money to actually build this. We just have to figure out how to get it again so we can get things going,” Torres said.

“I depend on this. This is my business, so I have to make sure everything is looking good so my customers can come in.”

The suspect repeatedly swerved from the street to the sidewalk and back during the early-morning mayhem, also striking a parked unoccupied pick-up truck and a Toyota Camry, which in turn was pushed into a Ford van, sources said.

Video obtained by The Post shows multiple cops surrounding the Mercedes at West 34th Street and Seventh Avenue, where he was taken into custody.

The out-of-control motorist was transported to the same hospital, where he was initially listed in critical but stable condition, but was considered stable by the afternoon, authorities said.

His girlfriend was also hospitalized with minor injuries, cops and sources said.

The New Jersey man, who has 10 prior arrests – including raps related to drugs and criminal possession of stolen property, according to sources – was not officially identified by cops Monday afternoon, pending charges.
