Authorities busted a massive heroin ring in the Bronx Thursday, arresting nine people and confiscating $15 million worth of drugs, officials said.
Members of the state’s Drug Enforcement Task Force along with investigators with the city’s Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor entered a three-story home in University Heights where they reported finding 140 pounds of heroin packaged in glassine envelops with catchy brand names “Red Bull” and “Sweet Dreams.”
The drugs were packed in suitcases and ready to be distributed. Investigators also found $300,000 in cash.
One of the suspects had been arrested in a separate heroin bust 15 weeks ago and sprung on bail.
“The NYPD and its law-enforcement partners have pledged to aggressively pursue those who engage in the heroin trade,” Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.
