A doe-eyed baby girl was found deserted in the hallway of a Brooklyn building early today, police said.
Neighbors called 911 after hearing a couple arguing at midnight on the seventh floor of O’Dwyer Gardens housing development on W 33rd Street, sources said.
Mayra Ramos, 39, was taking a shower when she heard a bang followed by the infant’s cries. “She was very loud. She was screaming. I went outside and I saw her on the floor. I called 911 and I picked her. She calmed down.”
Police said the baby is five-months old and was taken to Coney Island Hospital in stable condition.
Ramos said two of her neighbors overhead a woman scream, “Call the cops, call the cops.” The baby was found near a vodka bottle and a broken cell phone, which was recovered by cops, Ramos said.
“The baby was well-dressed. It’s weird, maybe something happened to the mother,” Ramos said. “She has such big dark brown eyes. She’s so pretty. I wonder why someone would leave her there.”
