Cops have arrested the creep caught on surveillance footage attacking a Chinatown liquor-store employee during a violent robbery, just over an hour before he seriously injured an elderly worker at a Greenwich Village store, authorities said Monday.

The suspect was identified by a police source as Rickey Hayes, 61. Hayes was busted Sunday afternoon and charged with shoplifting during his third stop of the day — at Macy’s in Herald Square, the police source said.

Hayes first robbed Seward Park Liquors at 53 Ludlow St. in Chinatown around 12:45 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The suspect, wearing an orange tank top, is seen in surveillance footage swinging a liquor bottle and throwing it at the 41-year-old worker as he chases him around the store and out the door.

“They started in the front, and he chased him around because Danny wouldn’t give up the money,” said store owner John DeBlasio, 71, of the incident involving his son, Daniel.

John said Hayes purchased a miniature liquor bottle and had a conversation with Daniel before picking up a regular-sized bottle and demanding money.

“When Danny didn’t give it to him, he sort of chased Danny around with the bottle,” he said. “He starts throwing bottles at Danny, going all over the store, and that’s when I stopped watching the video because I got very upset.”
The attacker threw about 10 bottles, the elder DeBlasio said, leaving a small hole in the floor tiles outside the bathroom where his son temporarily took refuge.

After chasing Daniel out of the store, video shows that Hayes then opens the register and grabs cash before fleeing south on Ludlow Street, police said. He made off with about $200.

DeBlasio was treated at the scene by EMS, police said.

Just over an hour later, Hayes changed his shirt and wore a hat to try his luck at Reno Fashion at 498 LaGuardia Place in Greenwich Village, cops said.

He allegedly assaulted two employees, an 88-year-old woman and her 66-year-old son. He first went after the man, attacking him with a glass jar, before the woman tries to intervene, police sources said.

Hayes then turned his attention to the octogenarian — allegedly pushing her to the floor and hitting her over the head with the jar several times.

The attack so violent, investigators could “smell blood” because there was so much it spilled at the store, a law enforcement source said.

Video shows Hayes knocking over store racks and displays as he punches and kicks his victims.

He then tried to take money from the register, but fled empty-handed on LaGuardia Place, police said.

Both victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious but stable condition with several cuts to their heads.

Hayes, a Newark, NJ, resident, was taken to Bellevue Hospital for psychological evaluation and a hand injury.

He was charged with three counts of robbery, two counts each of attempted robbery, assault and criminal mischief, and one count of attempted assault, police said.
