A “Wild, Wild West”-themed Rockefeller Center bar has agreed to settle a lawsuit by former cowgirl employees who claim that they were groped by male customers and bosses — and that it was considered a job requirement.
Urban-cowboy hot spot Johnny Utah’s has to agreed to a “settlement in principle” with more than 50 ex-staffers in a class-action Manhattan federal-court lawsuit accusing the owners of promoting sexual harassment and failing to pay overtime and other fair wages, court filings Wednesday said.
The suit, filed last year, alleged, among other things, that bosses insist female staffers “take off their shirts” and kiss each other when they ride the mechanical bull.
The complaint also claims that female servers are subjected to sexual harassment by male customers — and that they risk having hours cut or losing their jobs “if they complain.”
Details of the planned settlement are not outlined in the new filing.
