A barge carrying eight sections of what will be the massive spire on top of One World Trade Center is en route from Canada to New York this holiday weekend, as these pictures show.

The eight sections — which left Quebec on Nov. 16 — range in weight from five to 67 tons and are expected to arrive in Port Newark sometime next week. Once there it will be transferred to Manhattan.

Ten smaller sections will be sent down from Canada in December to complete the spire.

When all the sections are complete, the spire will be placed on top of One World Trade Center and elevate the building to 1,776 feet, making it the tallest building in New York City.
