Brooklyn City Councilman Charles Barron is calling for the dismissal of a university trustee after the two men got in a shouting match.
Barron said today that Jeffrey Wiesenfeld should be kicked off the Board of Trustees of the City University of New York.
Barron and Wiesenfeld traded insults Tuesday at a groundbreaking ceremony for a new college building that will replace one damaged in the Sept. 11 attacks.
Wiesenfeld called Barron “a disgrace”; the councilman called Wiesenfeld “a sickening racist.”
That was after Barron complained that organizers of the event had disrespected him by not giving him a seat on stage.
A university spokesman did not return an e-mail seeking comment.
Barron also announced he is running against Christine Quinn for speaker of the City Council.
