A billionaire Russian oligarch beat his wife after becoming enraged over her failure to produce a son for him, she testified in a Connecticut court yesterday.

Shalva Chigirinsky “was accusing me of not being able to give birth to a boy,” said Tatiana Panchenkova, 48, as she explained what led him to attack her in June 2007 in Moscow.

Panchenkova told a Stamford, Conn., court judge that Chigirinsky, 62, “insisted” she undergo artificial insemination. A month after the alleged baby-related bashing, she conceived twins, a boy and a girl, via artificial insemination, she said.

Panchenkova earlier testified that she miscarried in 2004 after Chigirinsky assaulted her, also in Moscow.

Panchenkova claims her now-ex-husband brutally attacked her 10 times from 2001 until last year, and is asking that he be ordered to set aside $2.5 million as security for any civil damages she is awarded in a pending assault lawsuit against him.

Chigirinsky’s lawyers yesterday tried to discredit her claims, implying she stayed with her wealthy husband for the money.
