Beatle doc’s malpractice
A Staten Island radiologist who was once sued by the family of Beatles guitarist George Harrison committed malpractice when he treated an Italian woman without first confirming she had cancer, a federal jury has ruled.
After only an hour of deliberation, jurors in a federal civil trial found Thursday that Dr. Gilbert Lederman had erred by treating a woman with radiation without taking a biopsy.
His treatment, however, did not lead to the death of Giuseppa Bono, 34, the jury ruled.
Because of the split verdict, no monetary damages were awarded.
