Betting on an OTB return
ALBANY — The jockeying is under way for a potential return of OTB to the city.
A bill authorizing Catskill OTB to open off-track betting parlors in the Big Apple — and potentially employ hundreds of workers who lost their jobs when New York City OTB-run parlors were shuttered two years ago — is on Gov. Cuomo’s desk.
But Mayor Bloomberg is pushing for a veto.
Hizzoner says the city wouldn’t have enough control over the operation and said Catskill OTB would be “profiting off of New York City residents.”
Cuomo has until Dec. 17 to decide.
