A young cyclist was fatally struck by a hit-and-run truck driver early Friday in Brooklyn, police said.
MD Rajon, 21, was riding an electric bike in the designated bike lane near the intersection of Pitkin and Atkins avenues in East New York shortly before 1 a.m. when he was hit by a white box truck as the driver was making a right turn, cops said.
After colliding with Rajon, who was wearing a loosely secured helmet, the truck driver kept going — leaving the cyclist to die.
The victim lived less than a mile from the crash site, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Photographs from the aftermath show a helmet upside down in the roadway, just feet from Rajon’s bike and body.
The hit-and-run driver is still on the loose. Police describe the box truck as having a dark-colored cab.
