A 29-year-old man was shot multiple times as he was riding a bike in the East Village early Monday, police said.

The victim was pedaling along Avenue C between East 11th and East 12th streets in Alphabet City when the gunman opened fire, squeezing off several rounds shortly after midnight.

The cyclist, who was struck once in the torso and once in the arm, managed to flee and took himself to Bellevue Hospital, where he is in serious but stable condition.

Police said the victim is cooperative and is helping them create a sketch of the gunman, who is still on the loose.
