Big Apple kids up to the test
City students saw nearly across-the-board gains last year on elementary and middle school social-studies and science tests, as well as on high-school exit exams.
The gains over 2009 include a 6.3 percent spike in the pass rate on the Global History Regents exam and a 4.6 percent increase in the pass rate on the English Regents exam.
Of the five Regents exams required for high-school graduation, only the Living Environment science exam saw a slight decrease in the passing rate.
In science, fourth- and eighth-graders also saw improvements.
